HOW IT WORKS

The process is simple yet profound. Living Family Tree works closely with each client to uncover the key moments and memories that define their unique life journey.

Step 1: Setting the Stage

We start with a preliminary interview, where we hone in on the right questions and stories to explore during the filmed interview. We also discuss how the documentary will take shape and further explain our process.

Step 2: Lights, Camera, Interview!

A skilled filmmaker comes to your home to record the interview with professional camera and audio equipment. Our filmmakers are trained to get detailed, in-depth responses that make the stories come alive. The interview segment can last for up to four hours, with additional footage being shot around the home.

Step 3: Editing

A professional editor brings this narrative to life, incorporating music, archival footage, stock footage, and scanned family photos that transform ordinary lives into extraordinary cinematic experiences. The finished product looks like a Netflix documentary that captures a person's life through effective storytelling and engages the audience from beginning to end."

Step 4: Lasting Impact

By immersing yourself in the process of creating your movie memoir, you not only preserve your legacy for generations to come but also strengthen the bonds with your loved ones. The process opens up the conversation about the past, and you will uncover stories you didn't even know existed!

"As I began gathering photos for the very first Living Family Tree video with my grandparents, I noticed how quickly their photos sparked conversation about old memories - their first date, my grandpa's love of Elvis, my grandma's popularity in high school. I heard so many details I had never heard before."
